Las mascotas soportarán mejor el verano 2011, que la Aemet prevé muy caluroso, con alimentos hidratados y más baños. Cinco consejos básicos que no debes olvidar son: 1. Dejar siempre agua a disposición de tu mascota. 2. Es probable que tu perro quiera comer menos, no te preocupes es normal. Puedes complementar su ración de pienso con comida húmeda. 3. Es aconsejable mantener a tu mascota en un lugar fresco, evitando los paseos prolongados en las horas de más calor. Esto es especialmente importante en cachorros y razas con problemas respiratorios. 4. No exponga a su perro demasiado tiempo al sol. No es aconsejable que pase demasiado tiempo al sol entre las 12h y las 19h, especialmente los animales de pelo blanco y ojos claros. 5. Puede refrescar a su mascota con baños, aunque nos es aconsejable utilizar champú en todos ellos. Se puede valer de un pulverizador para refrescar a su mascota.

La SPAP (Sociedad Protectora de Animales y Plantas de Madrid) y la Policía Municipal aunan fuerzas para frenar la mendicidad con animales. Solo en Madrid el aumento de este tipo de prácticas a aumentado tanto, que el 25% de las denuncias que se reciben en la SPAP estan relacionadas con la mendicidad con animales. En su mayoría las víctimas de estos abusos son perros y gatos a los que se les hace permanecer junto a sus dueños inmóviles durante horas. La Policía Municipal sospecha que para captar la atención de los viandantes, los animales son drogados y maltratados.

Mendicidad con animales

En vista de que ni la Ley de protección de animales domésticos de la Comunidad de Madrid, ni las ordenanzas municipales sobre tenencia de animales contemplaban la protección de los mismos frente a la explotación en práticas de mendicidad, la SPAP, en colaboración con el Cuerpo de Policía Municipal de Madrid, han conseguido que proximamente se lance la nueva Ordenanza de Protección Animal, en la que se incluye la prohibición en todo el casco urbano de mendicidad con animales, con la posible retirada del animal.

Si eres testigo del abandono o maltrato de algún animal pueden denunciarlo a través de la SPAP. Con la colaboración de todos podemos frenar el maltrato animal.
